This transformative Somatic Breathing for the Pelvic Floor programme invites you to experience the intricate connections within your body by focusing on the often-overlooked pelvic floor muscles.
Through this series of four progressive sessions, you’ll develop a deeper awareness and connection with your pelvic floor, discovering how it integrates with your breath, movement, and the rest of your body.
What's Included?
Session 1: Discovering the Pelvic Floor and its Connection to Breath
In this session, you'll explore the pelvic floor as a diamond-shaped structure and connect it with your breathing system, learning how it functions alongside the thoracic and throat diaphragms. You'll identify key bony landmarks and introduce movement to develop awareness of the pelvic floor's role in your body. By the end of this session, you’ll have begun to connect the pelvic floor to the rest of your body and be better able to experience its role in movement and breathing.
Session 2: Sounding and Flexion for Pelvic Floor Activation
Building on the first session, you’ll use sound to stimulate the pelvic floor while engaging the abdominals, jaw, and mouth. This session also introduces flexion and breath, connecting the muscles through the front of your body together the pelvic floor for deeper activation and engagement. This session also includes side-lying movements to offer different ways to engage the pelvic floor as you breath and move.
Session 3: Differentiating the Three Layers of the Pelvic Floor
Here, you’ll explore three distinct layers of the pelvic floor, each contributing to support and movement as you breath. Utilising specific postures and breathwork, you’ll activate these layers, refining your awareness and control over your pelvic floor’s different ways of engaging and connecting with your breath.
Session 4: Whole-Body Integration of the Pelvic Floor
In the final session, you’ll be guided to synchronise your pelvic floor with full-body movements. Through coordinated arm, leg, and torso movements combined with breath, you’ll integrate your pelvic floor’s connected engagement with the rest of your body, improving balance, strength, and overall coordination.
