Across these four sessions, you'll embark on a journey of self-awareness, progressively enhancing your understanding of the diaphragm’s role in breathing. You'll learn how to free up your breath, improve movement coordination, and unlock a new depth of ease in your breathing practice.
What's Included?
Session 1: Discovering the Diaphragm
Begin your journey with an experiential exploration of the diaphragm and its relationship with the chest and belly. Through guided sensory awareness, you'll tune into the natural rhythm of your breath, learning how to direct it intentionally. You’ll be introduced to different phases of breathing—holding, releasing, as well as moving breath between the chest and belly—to unlock your greater breathing potential.
Session 2: Awakening the Diaphragm’s Mobility
Building on the first session, you’ll use sound to stimulate the pelvic floor while engaging the abdominals, jaw, and mouth. This session also introduces flexion and breath, connecting the muscles through the front of your body together the pelvic floor for deeper activation and engagement. This session also includes side-lying movements to offer different ways to engage the pelvic floor as you breath and move.
Session 3: Refining Breath with Sip-Breaths
Here you'll learn how to create graduated breath patterns with shortened 'sip-breaths,' helping you expand and contract your ribs and lungs in a controlled, subtle manner. By developing this refinement in how you breathe, you’ll begin to access deeper layers of musculature, releasing tension and enhancing the grace and ease with which your breath flows through your body.
Session 4: Creating Freedom Through Novel & Varied Movements
In the final session, you'll explore how subtle shifts in body positioning—such as rounding the torso—can create new pathways for breath to move. By introducing novel body shapes and engaging different muscle groups, you’ll learn how to facilitate more freedom in your diaphragm’s movement. This session will empower you to coordinate breath with posture, allowing your diaphragm to function effortlessly in harmony with your whole body.
