Running through the middle of your torso from your skull to your pelvis - your spine provides you with a gateway to freedom and possibility as it enables you to bend forwards, backwards, sideways, and to rotate - all the things you need to do to have an easy and enjoyable life!

Did you know that your spine is also the container of a flow of information that travels through your nervous system that's hidden inside it?
 
Providing a connection between your brain, your body, and the world that is around you, your spine is a super-highway, along which, information travels. 'Clusters' gather at various junctions,  (the chakras in the yogic energy system, the major organs and glands of your endocrine system) and the freer the spine, the more effective is the communication of information throughout your body.  Maybe you can begin to imagine how having a clearer, connection to your spine will give you access to greater well-being in your physical, energetic and emotional self.


'Awaken Your Spine' provides you with a series of explorations, learnings and change processes bringing you the means to transform and enhance the way in which you sense, organise and mobilise your whole being from the inside-out.

'Awaken your Spine' is a course that will guide you beyond your current known, so that you can find your own answers for greater, easier movement, and a more joyful life!



The online course provides you with 12 sets of video lessons, in 6 modules organised in: 

sensing | flexing | extending | side flexing | rotating | elongating 

 Each lesson will be between 30-40 mins long and it is recommended that you re-visit the class repeatedly 2-3 times a week to deepen your learnings.
 
Once purchased you will have lifetime access to the course.
 
This Self Study course gives you complete freedom of when and where you decide to take class. It’s perfect if you prefer to work alone, are self-motivated and want to create your own schedule.


No prior experience is needed; this course can be accessed by complete beginners to Somatics and somatic movement. 


Inside it you will find information about how to get the most out of Somatics. 


As a starting point, all you need is the ability to get down on the floor, to be able to lie for up to 30 – 40 mins (but this can be supported by blankets, cushions, bolsters etc… whatever you need for your own comfort), and to be able to get up off the floor again.

  • What is Somatics?
    Somatics is an approach to movement, that requires you to start from a place of conscious awareness. While it may seem that the focus is on movement, really, the starting point is to gain an awareness of what is.

    This means to build your awareness of proprioception (where you and all your body parts are in space) and interoception (how you sense all of those body parts, and your whole self, on the inside).

    From that place, the movement becomes a journey of exploration and discovery. And this movement journey can provide you with more conscious awareness of your self, which can lead to greater ease, greater comfort, and greater freedom in your body.
  • Who is it for?
    Somatics is for the curious and the adventurous! It is ideal for you if you are interested in improving your connection to your body. If there are any areas in your body that cause you to not move as easily as you could, that might cause you discomfort, or you feel that you avoid certain activities because of, then Somatics can be a perfect starting point to undo some of these unconscious, often dormant, areas.

    It is also an incredible companion to yoga, pilates, or other movement practices as it can shine a light on aspects of your movement habits that may need re-patterning or upgrading, so that you can begin to get way more out of your activities.
  • What’s in it for me?

Meet Your Hosts

David and Amanda are both experienced Somatic Educators who love sharing a somatic approach to living with students and teachers around the world. As well as having a background of various somatic practices (Nia, Aerial Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation), they have both studied and trained in Somatics from the lineage of Thomas Hanna, which has been a major focus of their work for the past 10 years. They are currently based in Morocco.
