What if your eyes are not just a tool with which you see the world around you?

What if your eyes are actually a partner to You; your brain, your neurology, your musculature, in your experience of seeing? 


 We see with our eyes and through our eyes, yet the rest of our body is also involved. And, depending on how we involve the rest of us, how much we involve the rest of us, how well we involve the rest of us - this can all have an incredible impact on the functioning and the experience of seeing.  


This course will take you through a series of explorations, learnings and change processes that offer you the means to transform and enhance the way in which you see.

Is this for me?

  • Are you someone who often has 'tired eyes'? Do your eyes get fatigued? Do you find yourself rubbing your eyes frequently?

  • Do you squint in an attempt to see more clearly? Does your vision sometimes become blurry, fuzzy, unclear? 

  • Does reading a screen (laptop, phone, tablet....) fatigue your eyes, does the light affect your eyes, cause headaches?


  • Do you see better with your right eye, or maybe your left eye? Do you not know?  


  • Can you see better close up, or further away?  


  • Do you find it difficult to separate the movement of your eyes from the movement of your head? (Can you easily look left and move your head to the right, and vice versa...)

If any of the above applied to you, it doesn't necessarily mean there is something 'wrong' with your eyes!  Of course, we are not saying to not go get them checked with a health and well-being professional of your choice...but... what if some of these experiences are learnt behaviours and what if some simple practices could release these 'symptoms', these sensations that develop in your eyes? 


What if you are experiencing these sensations because of limited eye behaviours that you have developed, and by engaging in more expansive eye behaviours, these 'symptoms', these sensations, these results, could completely change?

  • 'Awaken Your Eyes' can assist you in exploring different possibilities for seeing.
  • It is a course for the curious, for those of you who wish to step outside 'the box' (or in some cases, your frames!).
  • This course will guide you beyond your known, so that you can explore and find your own potential for greater seeing. 



This online course is comprised of a series of video lessons, organised around 4 areas: 

 

 sensing | meditating | breathing | moving


There are 12 sections to the course, each containing a number of short video lessons, ranging from 5 minutes, to 30-40 minutes.  


Initially, the lessons will be uploaded weekly and we recommend re-visiting each lesson 2-3 times. However, you will have lifetime access to the course, so once the course has been fully uploaded, you can access the course in whatever order you wish.  

No prior experience is needed; this course can be accessed by complete beginners to Somatics and somatic movement. 


Inside it you will find information about how to get the most out of Somatics. 



As a starting point, all you need is the ability to get down on the floor, to be able to lie for up to 30 – 40 mins (but this can be supported by blankets, cushions, bolsters etc… whatever you need for your own comfort), and to be able to get up off the floor again.

FAQs
  • What is Somatics?
    Somatics is an approach to movement, that requires you to start from a place of conscious awareness. While it may seem that the focus is on movement, really, the starting point is to gain an awareness of what is.

    This means to build your awareness of proprioception (where you and all your body parts are in space) and interoception (how you sense all of those body parts, and your whole self, on the inside).

    From that place, the movement becomes a journey of exploration and discovery. And this movement journey can provide you with more conscious awareness of your self, which can lead to greater ease, greater comfort, and greater freedom in your body.
  • Who is it for?
    Somatics is for the curious and the adventurous! It is ideal for you if you are interested in improving your connection to your body. If there are any areas in your body that cause you to not move as easily as you could, that might cause you discomfort, or you feel that you avoid certain activities because of, then Somatics can be a perfect starting point to undo some of these unconscious, often dormant, areas.

    It is also an incredible companion to yoga, pilates, or other movement practices as it can shine a light on aspects of your movement habits that may need re-patterning or upgrading, so that you can begin to get way more out of your activities.
  • What’s in it for me?
    This approach is a great tool for self awareness – improving your ability to self-sense, self-organise and self-actualise. You get to rely on yourself and your own ability to create change in your body, rather than having to rely on others! Meet Your Hosts

David and Amanda are both experienced Somatic Educators who love sharing a somatic approach to living with students and teachers around the world. As well as having a background of various somatic practices (Nia, Aerial Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation), they have both studied and trained in Somatics from the lineage of Thomas Hanna, which has been a major focus of their work for the past 10 years. They are currently based in Morocco.
